A Lesson in Kindness
An ABS Kids’ BT writes a book inspired by his young niece, spreading the message of “Nothing But Kindness”
When Emilo Trinidad was processing his young niece’s cancer treatment, he put pen to paper. He started thinking about Khloe and how he could give back to the network of people who supported the family during her treatment. One word came to mind: kindness.
“No matter what age you are, you can always spread kindness,” Emilo says. The ABS Kids BT in Imperial Valley, California, says these intentional acts of service can be given freely just to put a smile on someone’s face.
Inspired by his real-life niece, pictured below holding the book, Emilio’s children’s book Nothing but Kindness follows Khloe, a young cancer survivor, as she demonstrates simple yet powerful ways to spread positivity wherever she goes. Emilio hopes the book will resonate with young readers and instill the value of kindness early in life. One reviewer says of the book:
“My little one and I really enjoyed this story. Kindness is such an important thing to teach our children, and I feel this book did exactly that. :-) Kindness really can make a difference in people's lives.”
As a BT, Emilo works with autistic children in ABA therapy sessions. Kindness, he says, is something he practices every day. “As BTs, we are spreading kindness by helping families with their kids.” ABS Kids wants every child to thrive in their environment. ABA therapy can help build strong social and personal skills for children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). He joined ABS Kids in 2024, where he is a shining example of showing compassion for his clients.
“Emilio is an exceptional Behavioral Therapist with a deep passion for helping children grow, thrive, and reach their fullest potential,” says Estefania Luna, ABS Kids Operations Manager. “Emilio is known for blending his clinical expertise with genuine care, which creates a safe and supportive space where every child feels seen, understood, and empowered."
The book was published in 2021, when Emilio was still a college student. He donated several copies to the doctors' offices that helped his niece during her cancer treatment.
Emilio also wrote My Words to You, a collection of poems and reminders that helped him during difficult times in his life. He says more children's books are in the works. You can find all of Emilio’s written works on Amazon.
